Growing Leadership - How to Identify and Develop Our Future Leaders
About the Mini Workshop Look at any poll of corporate or non-profit boards and executive teams and the future leadership of the organization always ranks as one of their top concerns. People turned out in record numbers to vote in the recent presidential election. WeÃÂ're more concerned about leadership than ever. So, what is effective leadership? Where do effective leaders come from? How do we grow the next generation of leaders for our organizations and for our country? Does leadership require some kind of natural charisma or can anyone be an effective leader? This presentation attempts to answer some of these questions with historical and practical examples of effective leadership. It takes the mountain of theories and mythology about leadership and boils them down to a few basic principles and practices we can use to grow our future leaders. In the second part of the program, participants will engage in a mini workshop to generate ideas for their own leadership development. About the Speaker Tom Laughlin is the President of Caravela Inc, a leadership consulting firm. He has held leadership positions in domestic and international organizations for almost three decades.
